Stoned Religion
One of the biggest compliments that I receive about my cemetery photography is from writers who seen an image of mine and are inspired to write a piece. One such writer, Veronique Medrano has wrote a poem titled ‘Stoned Religion’ and has given me kind permission to publish it here.
Stoned Religion
Virgin Mary
Silent Goddess
I look upon your stony visage in this graveyard,
filled with forgotten souls,
and a heartrending silence fills my soul.
‘Cause in her eyes I see the traditions of my heritage
slowly
fading
away
Abuela waving a cold egg all over me
trying to ward off evil energy.
Whispers of the Virgin’s name,
bouncing eerily against the walls,
while the rattle of beads pass
one by one under my fingertips.
Visions and voices of angels and otherworldly wisdom,
all part of my deep devotion,
can’t
be
saved!
My doubts have stoned the Virgin,
and even though we were once friends,
now we are just strangers.
She’ll continue to look to the sky and pray,
while I take the memories of my youthful and put them away.

Blood Tree
I adore your picture “Blood Tree”. The form of the tree is reminiscent of a woman’s body, elegant but tortured and writhing in pain. It seems to be rearing up into the sky, reaching out with twisted limbs. If it had a sound it would be shrieking to the night sky and the moon above. It’s as if the tree is giving voice to the tortured souls of those condemned to the earth around it. The longer you look at it, the more you can sense from it.
Amazing work
This tree stands in a very old English country graveyard in a place called Heysham nr Morecambe, Lancashire.

I like the Coffin Skeleton.
It shows that even in death you can still be sinister as Hell. It looks at peace, but really evil as if it get off the slab and go after you. Kind of reminds me of one of the skeletons off of Army of Darkness.
I prefer it over Blood Skeleton, because it’s black and white. Also it shows more of the skeleton in detail where the Blood Skeleton shows the shadows. Love this pic’ Amanda.
I get asked a lot of questions about this photograph as some of you think that it’s an actual skeleton in a graveyard. In fact, it’s a macro shot of my jewellery box.

Vampire On Her Back

What I find intriguing about Mandys photography, is that it can be stark and beautiful at the same time. This is horror photography that does not repel, but attracts. Once you see it, you can’t look away. Notice the detail. Nothing is left to chance. This isn’t random snapping of photos. Look at York Minster Tower. Look at the angle. Not a straight on shot. The sepia tones. This is a person who has not only talent but natural ability.
Look at vampire on her back, one of my favorites. It is an exceptionally sensual yet terrifying image. Every time I see it, I see something new. Finally, Dark Road to Nowhere. Chilling. Artistic. It really makes me wonder what exactly is up ahead.
