Cemetery Photography–Frozen Mary

Frozen-Mary-HandsThis cemetery photograph of a frozen Mary statue is my favourite photograph of 2011.

It was painfully cold one January morning when I decided to pay the local cemetery a visit and I was captivated by the frozen cobwebs hanging off her frosted hands.

I love the craftsmanship of the statue as the robes actually look stiff like cardboard due to the freezing conditions and her poor bare feet upon that rock, but there she stands for decades or possibly a century?

To finish off this photograph, I love the other lone statue you can see in the background and don’t the two of them stand out against the boring modern headstones of today?
