Goodbye 2010 and Welcome 2011
2010 has been the best year for me and my photography and that’s mainly thanks to my followers on Twitter who have helped me spread the word about my Gothic horror photography.
Thank you to all of my Twitter followers as your help is much appreciated!
Although I’m nowhere near professional status, I have started to earn a bit of pocket money mainly due to sales of greeting cards and business cards over on my Zazzle store. In regards to prints, I only sold two or three and not sure why considering people tell me that they like my photography. Not to worry, your feedback inspires me to continue and I’ve spent some time revamping the photography gallery to make it look more professional and I’ve still got some tweaks to do.
Highlights of 2010
Below I’ve listed some of my highlights and again, it’s thanks to you!
JANUARY – Artist of the Week & Interviews
I’m honoured that @FreddysFingers the webmaster of Paradise of Horror wanted to interview me and that @visualyze chose me as Artist of the Week.

FEBRUARY – Silverthorn Press Interview
MARCH – The Big Picture Interview
FAN SPOT – March saw the introduction of Fan Spot where fans chose their favourite image and told me why. I received some lovely feedback that inspired me to continue with my photography and to never give up. Click here to read!
APRIL – The Bat Pendant
The lovely @MermaidsTears was commissioned to make me a bat pendant and I cherish it and wear it often! Click here to view it!
The Edinburgh Ghost Tour purchased an image of mine to use to advertise their ghost tour. I was chuffed to bits that a ghost tour is using my photography and I hope it will be the first of many. Click here to view!
MAY – Fans Video
This is most certainly one of my highlights and it is thanks to you.
I asked you for feedback on your favourite image for a video compilation featuring Tony Longworth’s music and you certainly didn’t disappoint me. Check it out by clicking here.
JUNE – Mark Macready & The Arch Angel Murders
I received a VIP invitation to the premier of Mark Macready and the Arch Angel Murders in Manchester back in June and met the cast and Twitter friends for the first time who I chat to regularly. It was great fun and I got the chance to take some dark portraits, which can be seen here together with my thoughts of the party. http://blog.amandanorman.com/2010/06/20/dark-portraits-from-mark-macready-vip-launch-party/
JULY – HorrorEzine
Reviewed my photography. Click here to read!
AUGUST – First Professional Dark Portrait
August introduced me to Kev who asked if he could have a dark portrait. Of course I said yes, even though I was nervous as I didn’t know him, but it went like a dream and it was so much fun. Kev loved his A2 poster that I did for him and it’s nice to make new friends. He came all the way from Birmingham to pose and that gave me so much confidence to carry on with the idea of offering Dark Portraits. More about the session can be read here.
SEPTEMBER – Morning Funeral Soundtrack
One of my graveyard photographs was used on the cover of the Morning Funeral Soundtrack CD. More info here.
OCTOBER – GRIMMFEST Manchester
The first time that I have had a stall at a festival thanks to the lovely people from Grimmfest who made it possible. I also took some dark portraits for the lucky few who sat for me. More information can be read here .
DECEMBER – FIRST TIME REVIEW IN PRINT
Scream Horror magazine printed the article about me and my photography written by the lovely Richard Gladman who certainly grilled me, but it was worth it. Click here for more info.
What will 2011 Bring?
I’m currently discussing ideas with a book publisher so hopefully you will see a book in the New Year.
I just hope that even if I don’t realise my dream of becoming a professional photographer, I will continue to make new friends and gain wonderful feedback as it’s really the feedback that keeps me going. Again thank you to everyone who I’ve met and become friends with and all the best to you in 2011.
