You should know by now that I’m a massive fan of the old Hammer Horror vampire films and when I’m venturing out in old graveyards, I’m always on the lookout for that perfect grave setting that reminds me of these wonderful films.
I begin my Hammer Horror series of inspired photographs with The Cross. I just love the way it sits lonely under a tree, a mystery untold to who is buried in this peaceful spot. It’s stained with water running down the aged stone that just adds to the effect of this wonderful grave.
Above is an overgrown, mish mash of graves and ivy. The tombs within this graveyard are elaborate and survive from being hidden by the creeping, live undergrowth. Some graves have been forgotten and are slowly diminishing, but others never lose their beauty.
The ivy has found its next conquest, a solitary cross shaped headstone. Its fingers begin to crawl like veins spreading upwards.
Some inhabitants remain untouched by the creeping undergrowth, silently sleeping and unaware of what is to come.
I hope you enjoyed this set of graveyard photographs. Please feel free to leave your constructive feedback and visit my galleries and online shop.
