When Kayleigh Johnson, a model known as KJ from Warrington, contacted Amanda Norman to book a photography shoot in Liverpool, her request was very straight forward.
As long as it’s dark, Gothic vampire, horror type shoot, I’ll be happy.
How could Amanda resist! Amanda loves vampires and she knew that Kerry Sheree would jump at the chance to do some Gothic vampire make up. From the images you see here, we believe that Amanda and Kerry gave KJ everything she wished for and possibly more.
I’ve been wanting to do this type of shoot for years, but I’ve never met a photographer with the right style like you, I can’t wait!
The photography shoot started off with some warm up shots that created some very nice images. Amanda prefers black and white photography and the shot of KJ holding the candle below is one of her favourites.
I like the light in the candle and the netting across her eyes. It’s a sensual image that showcases my daughter’s make up very well. I know that Kayleigh loves the portrait where she’s gently biting her finger. I think she has a hint of a vampiric Cleopatra about her, but although these are great shots, they weren’t screaming out vampire. It was time to get messy with the make up and for Kerry Sheree to vamp it up.
We can clearly see from the Laughing Vampire portrait above that KJ has now finally got her vampire spirit. By this stage, she was fully relaxed with mother and daughter team and their banter that made everyone laugh. The session was finalised with Amanda’s most favourite vampire portrait of KJ.
Vampire Noir Portrait
Vampire Noir is my favourite vampire portrait of KJ as it looks satanic yet peaceful?
It really showcases Kerry’s make up talents and there’s just so much going on in this image that each viewer will have their own imaginative opinion. I can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts on it.
KJ is a wonderful model to work with. She’s not only beautiful in person, she has a beautiful soul and it was a great pleasure working with her.
We had so much fun collaborating on the Gothic Vampire shoot and I got some amazing images that I’m very pleased with. This is a major credit to KJ as she was open to ALL of my crazy ideas and she was very patient. She went that extra mile to achieve the shot I had in my mind even when they didn’t work out. The shoot was FANGtastic and I can’t wait for the next time!
Kerry Sheree’s Vampire Make Up
I thoroughly enjoyed turning KJ vamp.
I applied the makeup in three stages, which I’ve never done before. I first went for a Gothic/boudoir style makeup, just to ease KJ in.
Following the boudoir look, I went a little more creative by adding more effects to KJ’s makeup up. I smudged red ‘Illamasqua’ eye shadow down on to her cheeks and I used a ‘Real Techniques’ fine line brush with gel eyeliner to add some veins.
After creating some horrifying images, both Amanda and KJ thought the shoot was over, but I was desperate to get a little more gory. So I added some coagulated blood around her lips and dripped blood onto Kayleigh’s hands.
I am more than pleased with the images produced as I feel it shows a little more diversity as a makeup artist within the same shoot.
I always feel that both me and my mother Amanda make a great team and this photo shoot was made even more special with Kayleigh due to the fun we had.
