About Amanda

Favourite Lady Vampires

Below are some of my most memorable female vampires.

None of them are from Hammer Horror movies as I’ve featured those vampires in my ‘Female Vampires of Hammer Horror’ post.

Lorena from True Blood

We haven’t seen a lot of Lorena in True Blood, but she is one dark and mysterious vampire that I can’t seem to shake from my memory.

Her bloodlust for humankind is insatiable and she loved to bring women as gifts for Bill and her to enjoy in a sexual bloodlust frenzy.

Lorena is responsible for turning Bill into a vampire and she longs to walk with him for all eternity.

Did Lorena astral project into Sookie’s dream when she was fantasising about being in bed with Eric (sexiest male vamp ever!)?

Her tears of blood where so striking when Bill told her to leave.  I felt sorry for her and I hope we get to see more of her.

Lily Munster from the TV Show The Munsters

The Munsters was one of my favourite TV shows when I was a child.  Actually, scrap that last sentence as I still love to watch The Munsters today.

I loved Herman Munster to bits, the way he laughed and cracked jokes all the time.

One character that I can’t forget is ‘Lily Munster’.

Lily Munster, one of the original sexiest vampires of the 20th century in my opinion.

She was the ‘mommy’ vampire to millions and she was a rock to her husband Herman.

munsters-lilyYvonne is quoted to have said about the Munsters..

It meant security. It gave me a new, young audience I wouldn’t have had otherwise. It made me ‘hot’ again, which I wasn’t for a while‘.

Yvonne was one of the biggest beauty queens of the 40′s and 50′s and one of the most beautiful in the world.

Yvonne De Carlo was born in 1922 and sadly died of natural causes at the age of 84 1n January 2007.

Grace Jones as Vamp (1986)

Who can forget Grace Jones as the vampire Katrina in the movie Vamp?

I can’t!

In fact I haven’t seen this film for years, but I can still remember how she scared me when I was younger. The only other vampire that scared me more was Mr Barlow from Salem’s Lot.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Grace Jones was an actual vampire.  She is big time creepy.

Background of Movie

A couple of college kids scouring the sleazy, local red-light district for a stripper for their party make the mistake of visiting the After Dark Club, where a vampiric Grace Jones is the marquee talent. Keith, Vic, and A.J., looking for strippers for their next frat party, unfortunately happen upon the only strip joint in town staffed and run by vampires. It isn’t long before two of the boys have joined the ranks of the undead, complicating things for their fraternity brothers and their roommates. A kinky, often comedic modern-day vampire tale.

This film isn’t often talked about when we remember good vampire flicks and below is the scene from the movie where Katrina is introduced. Check out the crowds faces at the end of her performance. It’s a scream!

Salma Hayek as Santanico in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)

Who can forget the scene when Salma Hayek, with a large snake is introduced onto the stage to Tito & Tarantula’s song, After Dark?

Salma certainly played the part of a sensual vampire, teasing the men with her seductive charm.  It was genius when she poured a drink down her leg to run off her foot into Tarantino’s mouth.

Dark Guardian

DG I’m not mad or crazy, but what I’m about to tell you is true.

One dark evening many years ago, I had the strong urge to peep out of the curtains into my garden. I don’t know why I had to look, but I did and what I seen, terrified me.

The picture you see is my vision of what I seen, standing there silently on the other side of my back fence behind the shrubbery.

I watched the extremely tall figure for a minute or so. He was just stood there side on to me, looking forward. At first I thought it was a madman, checking out someone before he made his move until his head turned very slowly to look directly at me. I s**t myself!

I got a large kitchen knife and sneaked out of my front door and ran to my friend’s house.

Some months later, can’t exactly remember when, my daughter had her friend sleep over. They became hysterical due a man outside their bedroom window. My garden is fenced off and although that wouldn’t stop an intruder, it would make it difficult.

When describing the man, my daughter sent chills down my spine, because all she could comment on was his long black curly hair. The figure I had seen had long curly hair.

On another occasion, my niece came running out of my bathroom insisting that she had seen a man outside the bathroom window. She could only see a shape, but it terrified her.

I’m not saying that this is the same man that has been spotted on each occasion and there is probably a rational explanation. All I know is that, what I seen just didn’t come across as human.

The sighting troubles me to this day, because when I used to go to bed, I always sensed a dark male presence hiding in the shadows of my bedroom, watching over me. His sexual presence was overpowering. I once and only once had such a vivid erotic dream about him and I still question to this day if it was real or not.

My friend suggested that it could be someone who has astral projected. Could be I suppose?

Years later, I went to see a medium that had a good reputation. She told me that I had a powerful dark guardian watching over me and that I will be forever protected. Was this dark guardian the presence that hid in the shadows of my bedroom?

I guess I will never know and yes I have been accused of having an over active imagination, but I am one of the biggest sceptics around and I can’t find a plausible explanation for what I have seen and experienced all those years ago.

The Dark Side of Life by Horror Photographer Amanda Norman

Self-Portrait-Vampire What does the meaning ‘the dark side of life’ mean to you?

I will try to explain my personal meaning of it.

The dark side of life is NOT having a fear of the unknown. It is also a continual journey of self exploration, questioning everything that the mundane probably care not to for reasons of fear.

My Dark Side of Life

Energy Feeding

I fully believe that as individuals we can harness the energy around us for better or worse. Some harness energy for magical purposes, where by some of us do it without realising it.

Have you ever gone out feeling very good about yourself only to meet a regular individual who is so depressing that his/her mood brings you down?

This person is always down or depressed. Their personality seldom changes. After speaking to this person to try and cheer him/her up, you end up feeling drained or tired. This is because this person has taken your energy without you realising it and probably they don’t realise what they’re doing.

Some people know what they’re doing and they know how to harness or recycle negative energy to achieve a good outcome.

Spirituality

Within us we all have a spirit that is ultimately tied to our body during our lifetime. Even if we astral project, our spirit is still tied to our body. As a child, I unknowingly practiced astral projection and therefore I do believe that this can be achieved.

I’ve also lived with a spirit of a little boy called ‘Kenny’. I never interacted with him, but I sensed that he was a harmless little boy who made friends with my daughter when she was a toddler. I would often catch glimpses of him moving super fast out of the corner of my eye and when I looked, there would be nothing there. All I saw was a black shape.

Psychic Abilities

I believe that we all possess psychic abilities and that some of us are stronger than others. Personally, I have the gift of reading the Tarot and I can sense when someone is about to contact me out of the blue.

To me, the above paragraphs are examples of practices and thoughts that I have and learn more about each day.

The mundane amongst you will immediately scoff ‘what a load of rubbish’ and you are entitled to your opinions, just as I am as I continue my journey on the dark side of life.
