Horror No Go Zone
I’ve compiled a list of places and objects that are a no go zone for me thanks to the many horror films I’ve watched over the years. Below is my personal list of things that terrify me and feel free to leave your responses as I’m sure there are many more.
St Bernard Dog
I always tread carefully near St Bernard dogs thanks to Stephen Kings Cujo. It has to be the most terrifying dog of all horror films.
Corn Fields
Remember the scene in ‘Children of the Corn’ when the stalks of corn suddenly part way for our entrance into the corn field? Absolutely no way will you find me travelling near a corn field.
Parked Lorries
This one will probably make you laugh. Ever since watching ‘Trucks’ again a Stephen King film, I hate to cross the road near a parked truck at night that is pure black inside the windows in case it suddenly starts up and mows me down. Also thinking about it, if you’ve watched this film, do you remember the lawn mower coming to life?
Windows at Night
Ever since Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot, I’ve not been able to sit in a room at night with the curtains/blinds open just in case a mist forms and something floats up to the window with yellow eyes and starts dragging their long fingernails down it.
Shiny Silver Balls
Although they don’t scare me that much, I do imagine sharp blades to suddenly pop out before the balls float in the air and chase me and land smack bang in the middle of my forehead. Thanks Phantasm! That tall undertaker guy walking down the street is scary as Hell.
Television Screens
When you’re sat at the television and suddenly there’s a problem with the aerial and the screen goes all white and fuzzy, I’m scared as Hell that spirits are on their way to get me thanks to Poltergeist.

October Top Ten Twitter List
My top ten horror twitter list features people who love horror.
This list is my personal recommendation from my experience of regularly communicating with them on Twitter. Yes sure it’s personal, but these days, you get a lot of people using Twitter purely as a marketing tool and that bores the death out of me.
Below is my current top ten list and why I rate them. I will provide further updates as and when changes are made.
My favourite Horror Twitterer is….
1. @Horror_Crypt (moves up 1 place)
Horror movie reviews and much more…
Horror_Crypt is my favourite horror girl on Twitter. She is responsible for HorrorCrypt.com, where she discusses all things horror. She’s witty and I like her horror rants such as why people assume she likes ‘Twilight’ just because she has boobies.
Horror_Crypt or Bloofer Lady as she’s known on her blog has earned number 1 status this month due to her amusing ‘Survival Tips of the Week ’
Very amusing and she has a very warm personality on Twitter. She’s definitely one to get to know and converse with on a regular basis. We have become Twitter friends.
2. @DrewDaywalt (moves down 1 place)
Nice guy. Creepy films. Part of the FEWDIO Horror Troupe
Drew is responsible for writing and directing many short horror films for Fewdio.com and my favourite is ‘Bedfellows’. Drew regularly chats to lots of people on Twitter and he has a wonderful personality. I always look forward to his tweets. He’s one in a million!
3. @BathoryErzsebet
Being the first recorded vampire, I tortured & killed servant girls then bathed in & drank their blood as a youth/beauty regiment. AKA: ‘The Blood Countess’
Countess Bathory herself is on Twitter and she loves to share her torturous delights with all her followers and she loves to engage in conversation.
If you’ve ever been intrigued about the legend of Countess Dracula, hear the truth from her and don’t be afraid to chat to her. She’s a lot of fun!
4. @MsHarker
Horror enthusiast, blooming blogger and professional bleeding heart.
The first time I clicked on a Twitter link of hers, she had me in stitches with her TrueBlood rant. She can’t stand Bill’s mop and she fangs for Eric. MsHarker is very witty and amusing and this comes across in her Musing Consortium blog where she discusses all things dark and delicious. Her blog is that good that I regularly comment on her posts. She’s lovely and highly recommended.
5. @DreaminDemon (moves up 3 places)
Real life horror. Crimentertainment at its tackiest. We usually follow back and #FollowFriday those who @reply and RT.
I don’t engage in conversation with this Twitterer. With over 5000 followers and following over 5000 people, it must be hard to engage in conversation with everyone. Keep up the good work! His tweets about horror crime and other industry news are very, very good.
6. @FreddysFingers (NEW)
I am a huge horror movie fanatic and an even bigger film buff. I also review movies.
FreddysFingers is a horror enthusiast who loves to tweet and blog. He is a very friendly guy who has a passion for the writing of Stephen King and he deserves a spot in my top 10 this month. View his Paradise of Horror website by clicking here!
7. JohnnyHorror30 (NEW)
Accounting/Social Media. I’m one of the nicest and respectable people to talk too. I Love Horror Movies with a passion! The Descent is my Favorite Horror film!
Another friendly horror enthusiast who loves to chat and has recently set up a new blog titled ‘HorrorLand’. Click here to view HorrorLand!
8. @ChrisWiltz (moves up 1 place)
Screenwriter/ Web Producer, creator of the forthcoming web series Semi-Dead / Thinker/Culture Addict/Zombie rights advocate
Chris is a fun guy on Twitter. His personality comes across very well and he regularly converses with lots of Twitterers. Chris makes my top 10 as he loves my horror business cards and he purchased some. Good choice! Read about his new zombie web series ‘Semi-Dead ’.
9. @RiaShaw (NEW)
San Diego Pin-up Model, Supporter of Local Music, DethDoll Co-Pilot with @THEcrystalWYATT
Ria is a good laugh on Twitter and I always look forward to her interesting tweets. To view her model portfolio, click here! If we were in the same country, I would gladly take photographs of her for her portfolio.
10. @AngelaCaperton (moves down 5 places)
Award winning erotica author, Angela Caperton.
Angela is a very good erotic author and has also become a friend of mine. She regularly retweets my tweets when I announce new photography or a new item within my Zazzle store.
Midnight’s Lair by Richard Laymon
‘If you’ve missed Laymon, you’ve missed a treat’ Stephen King
The greatest horror author of all time in my opinion is the late Richard Laymon who sadly died back in 2001. When I heard about his death, I was so upset, because I had already read about 10 of his books and I thought that it was such a huge loss to the horror writing community.
In Laymon’s book, the horror is very real and you hope that it never happens to you. I think this is what scares me so much about his work, while at the same time, I’m fascinated and don’t want to leave it alone.
Midnight’s Lair
The other night, I decided to re-read Midnight’s Lair and already I can’t put the book down.
At the very beginning of this book, Laymon has included a poem that pretty much sums up the mood of Midnight’s Lair. Perhaps it inspired him to write this tale of horror.
The Explorer by Allan Edward DePrey
One day, feeling oh so brave,
I went walking in a cave.
Now, I fear, I can’t get out.
I’ll die in here, I have no doubt.
I’ll mold and turn to slimy bone
Here where the sun has never shown,
Where I’ll lie in darkness all alone,
Here in my tomb of ancient stone.
Remember me, before you dare
To journey into midnight’s lair.
Remember me, and what I write:
‘Here lies one who loved the light
But he was curious and brave –
He went walking in a cave.’
The Book
Kyle Mordock is a horrid, perverted and randy 15yr old who has his eyes on a new tour guide of the family’s caverns. He sneaks into her room and gets off on fantasising about her clothes and lying in her bed, but if you think this is bad, his father caught him sneaking out of her room and decided it was time to pass on the family tradition to his son.
He unlocked room 115 to reveal a two way mirror that filled the entire wall. On the other side was a poor lass who had checked into the hotel alone and now she was tied naked to the bed and gagged. Kyle’s father escorted the horny Kyle into the room and told him that he had one hour with her.
Kyle is now on the tour in the cavern watching the tour guide Darcy and fantasising about her when suddenly the electrics fail and they’re trapped below ground with just a couple of flashlights. Kyle partners up with a young girl as advised by Darcy in order to keep safe, but the poor girl isn’t safe.
No one is safe in a Richard Laymon book!
Midnight’s Lair is one of my favourite stories to read and as with any of Laymon’s books; you really get a feel for all of his characters. You can’t believe what you’re reading and you can’t put the book down, because you need to find out what happens to them.
I often wonder what type of man Richard Laymon was to have such evil and wicked storylines, but it doesn’t stop me from reading his work.
I must state though, I have read some of his books that were published after his death and sadly, they’re not as exciting as those he published when alive. Still, I wouldn’t tell you not to read them.
Why was there never a horror film made based on one of Richard Laymon’s books?
