The Last Exorcism

OMG!  Do you think this film will equal ‘The Exorcist’ for truly terrifying horror?

I will be going to the cinema to watch this and I hope that it lives up to my expectations, because the trailer certainly got my attention.  I hate the sound of bones snapping!

Presented by Eli Roth and Strike, The Last Exorcism is in theatres August 2010.  For more information, photos and the story behind the film, visit the official site by clicking here.

Lethal Obsession

After watching the trailer for ‘Lethal Obsession’, I had to ask Kitsie Duncan if she would be kind enough to answer some quick fire questions I had about the up coming movie.  A big thank you to Kitsie and hopefully you will be inspired enough like me to watch the movie once it’s released.

An otherwise quiet college community is turned upside down when a serial killer begins murdering beautiful women. The only apparent connection between the victims is their employer, Elizabeth Waters (Kitsie Duncan), owner of www.obsessioncams.com … a midwest fetish web cam site.

What makes these killings particularly heinous is that they happen live while the women are performing on the site. The local authorities have never had to deal with such premeditated gruesomeness. Only Detective Dennett (Brad Mills), having left the crime-ridden streets of Chicago, knows how to approach this case. However, his recent departure from a metropolitan precinct was due to his mental inability to continue dealing with mindless violence.

LethalObsessionFront-CoverMEDTell me and my readers about the person behind the Twitter mask and your involvement in Lethal Obsession?

I’m Kitsie Duncan and with my husband Chris Jay and Larry McAtee we are the driving force behind Darkrider Studios ( www.darkriderstudios.com ) which is the company responsible for the full feature LETHAL OBSESSION. Each of us wore many (well pretty much every hat) hats in the production process of this film. And we are very proud of the finished product. The mask (China Doll) is the creation of the very talented Bruce Solis. It is the mask worn by the serial killer in LETHAL OBSESSION the slasher/horror/thriller film which will be released mid summer 2010.

What influenced the story line?

The story line was just an idea I had several years ago. I have one of those crazy wandering minds, and I started thinking about adult cam girls and how they are so anonymous, and if something were to happen to one of them during their shows, how would the viewers report it, how would the police know? Chris Jay then wrote the amazing story and screen play for what today is LETHAL OBSESSION. I couldn’t be happier with the end product.

What influenced the killer to wear that mask?

LethalObsession0010

Well, I don’t want to give away too much of the story line. But it is to stay anonymous since the killer is killing the webcam girls as they are live on cam in most cases. And heck just to be scary :)

Who is behind Dark Rider Film Works and what are your plans for the future?

Chris, Larry and myself are the gears behind Darkrider Studios that make it tick. Darkrider Studios ( www.darkriderstudios.com ) is a full service production company that will film anything from commercials, to music videos, to full feature films and everything in between. We hope to make several more movies in the future, but right now we have to try and pay the bills :)

Is the soundtrack to the movie by one band in particular, because the music on the trailer above is good?

We have a few different bands and artists in the movie.

The Countess 2009

I recently had the pleasure of watching this wonderful film based on the life of the Hungarian Countess Erzebet Bathory played by Julie Delpy.

Known as the ‘Blood Countess’ and for good reason, this 2009 film tells the story of the Countess who falls in love with the attractive Istvan Thurzo who is 18 years younger than her. Their love is mutual much to the dismay of his father Gyorgy Thurzo, played by William Hurt, who proceeds to split them up by forcing his son to marry another and not see the Countess again.

Heartbroken, the Countess has no stomach for food and is slowly starving. She gets paranoid believing that he has fallen for a younger looking woman and when viewing her reflection in the mirror, she sees an aging woman.

One day in a fit of rage, she strikes her maid across her face and blood splatters on to the Countess’s face. She proceeds to wipe it off in the mirror and at the same time, light shines through the window and the Countess believes that the young maids blood is making her skin more youthful in appearance.

Has she lost her mind or does she truly believe that the blood of young virgins is responsible for making her skin appear youthful again?

In real life, the Countess is believed to have killed more than 600 young women and this adaptation provides one of the many theories as to why she did this. One thing we do know for sure is that she definitely had a thirst for blood.

After watching this film, I felt very sorry for The Countess and Julie Delpy played her magnificently. It’s a beautiful, heartbreaking story and one that shouldn’t be missed.
