Paradise of Horror

Guest Post – Shopping Center Cemetery

Salem Cemetery

Paradise of Horror“I’ve been to many cemeteries and seen many cemeteries in my life. I’ve seen some that were out in the middle of a cornfield.  I’ve seen one that’s right across from a hamburger stand, I’ve seen one that’s right in the backyard of an apartment complex and I’ve even been inside one that’s haunted. But never in my life have I seen a cemetery that was right in the middle of a shopping center.  However, if you ever have a chance to visit Palatine (a suburb of Chicago), you must see this to believe it. The Salem Cemetery is now part of the Palatine Township and it’s one of the most bizarre places I’ve seen. I’m sure that because it is a cemetery, the contractors couldn’t tear it down so they built the streets, restaurants and shopping marts around it… the result was this:

Thank you to Rick from Paradise of Horror for his guest post above.

When Rick told me about this cemetery, I was so intrigued that I had to find out more about it, hence asking him to write a guest post for my blog.  I think Rick is very lucky to have seen some of these remarkable cemeteries and I wish I had lots of money so that I could fly over to Chicago and visit them.

Interview by Paradise of Horror

Recently I was interviewed by Rick, the webmaster of Paradise of Horror for his Paradise Profiles section.

Paradise of Horror is your tropical gateway to horror and mayhem and I’m sure you will enjoy Rick’s in-depth articles as well as reading our interview.

Rick, stated the following in relation to our interview..

Today, I had the pleasure of talking to somebody that I met online and after checking out her website and her photography I was entranced into it. The noir-ish qualities of her photography capture my eye and I wanted to know more about her. Much like her, I too am attracted to that architecture and quietness of cemeteries so i knew we had something in common. Below is my ‘interview.’
Note: This was such a great interview and she told me some very powerful things and this was by far, one of the best interviews that I conducted and it was so hard for me to edit this interview.

I don’t know why, but I felt compelled to be totally open and honest when answering Rick’s questions.  I hope you will enjoy the interview and feel free to comment or ask me or Rick anything you want.
