Dark Portraits from Mark Macready VIP Launch Party

I had a great time at the VIP launch party for ‘Mark Macready and the Arch Angel Murders’ movie premier.  It’s a fantastic film and it has some comedy elements in that will make you laugh.  All of the actors were fantastic and if you haven’t seen the film yet, please head on over to the Arch Angel Murders website by clicking here.

Following on from the movie, there will be an animated web series, which will premier in August 2010.  I can’t wait to see this.

I loved meeting friends from Twitter and having the opportunity to capture their soul by taking their dark portrait.  Unfortunately, I couldn’t have done a dark portrait for everyone.

Rachel aka @lipstattoo666

Check out Rachel eyes.  She was brilliant at posing and it was a real pleasure meeting her.  She’s lovely in person and you should have seen her red shoes.  They were mental!  I’d break my neck trying to walk in them.  Rachel also gave me a severed finger and some button badges that now take pride of place on my handbag.  Seriously, check out her store by clicking here.

Rachel Dark Portrait Black and White

Personally, I prefer the black and white version above, but I know Rachel loves the colour below as she is now using it as her avatar on Twitter.

Steve aka @HorrorExtreme

OMG! Steve picked up a Twitter award at the party for the most gross posts on Twitter.  He’s such a wonderful character and I’m glad that I met him.  He also runs the website HorrorExtreme.com, which you should pay a visit if you like extreme horror.

What do you think of his dark portrait below?

Tom aka @ThatHorrorThing

It was nice meeting Tom and he presented me with a challenge for his dark portrait.  He wanted the shadow from his forehead to be cast over his eyes and it wasn’t easy considering the location and my intake of Macready cocktails.  Tom is a horror columnist and a podcaster over at Geek Planet Online.

That Horror Thing Dark Portrait

And now it’s time for the Mark Macready Cast

Nathan Head aka The Arch Angel

It was a great pleasure taking Nathan’s portrait as he got into the spirit of posing.  His portrait reminds me of the old Universal Horror portraits and it is definitely one of my favourites.

Nathan Head

Paul Newberry aka DCI Doyle

Paul is a lovely guy and I hope he doesn’t take offence, but I wasn’t the only one who thought his pose reminded them of Freddy Krueger.  LMAO!  Paul can pose for me anytime as he was hilarious.

PaulNewberry

Ryan McDermott aka Mark Macready

His raised eyebrow had to feature in the dark portrait didn’t it?

Ryan deserves an award for his hard work, great acting skills and for simply being a wonderful guy.  He was the perfect host and had time for EVERYONE!

I can’t decide on the colour or the black and white version, so I will leave that to you to decide.  I think that Ryan prefers the colour version.

So if you haven’t heard of ‘Mark Macready and the Arch Angel Murders’ your missing out!  Please head on over to their website by clicking here and watch the 30 minute movie, then follow the guys and girls above on Twitter and join the Macready family.

The #FollowFriday Rant

First of all, if you don’t use Twitter, you will be wondering what I’m ranting about, so let me tell you.

#FF stands for #FollowFriday.

It should be used to promote those wonderful people who are worthy of following on Twitter and therefore should be used sparingly in my personal opinion otherwise what’s the point in it?

As your list of followers increases, it’s just impossible to include every follower and it becomes a chore. Plus, why would you want to #FF every follower?

From this day forward, I plan to only promote those followers who I actively engage with or I think that they’re worthy of following and I will state my reasons for promoting them.

I’ve compiled my very own do’s and don’ts which I’ve listed below. It will show you what I love and hate about #FF with number 1 being top of the list.

If you don’t agree that is fair enough as this is my personal opinion.

What I hate about #FF

1. Re-tweeting someone else’s #FF

This is just pure laziness and I think an opportunity hoping that you will be included in a return #FF. WTF? Actions like this simply make a farce out of the importance of #FF and should be discouraged.

2. Simply #FF

If you can’t be arsed to write why they’re worthy of a follow, then why promote them? Shouldn’t we make more of an effort to promote worthy people to follow i.e. those individuals who stand out above and beyond the rest, those people who make Twitter fun?

What I love about #FF

1. Those people who go out of their way to state why a person is worthy of following. Good on you for the effort and it’s a practice that I’m going to adopt.

October Top Ten Twitter List

My top ten horror twitter list features people who love horror.

This list is my personal recommendation from my experience of regularly communicating with them on Twitter. Yes sure it’s personal, but these days, you get a lot of people using Twitter purely as a marketing tool and that bores the death out of me.

Below is my current top ten list and why I rate them. I will provide further updates as and when changes are made.

My favourite Horror Twitterer is….

hc

 1. @Horror_Crypt (moves up 1 place)

Horror movie reviews and much more…

Horror_Crypt is my favourite horror girl on Twitter. She is responsible for HorrorCrypt.com, where she discusses all things horror. She’s witty and I like her horror rants such as why people assume she likes ‘Twilight’ just because she has boobies.

Horror_Crypt or Bloofer Lady as she’s known on her blog has earned number 1 status this month due to her amusing ‘Survival Tips of the Week

Very amusing and she has a very warm personality on Twitter. She’s definitely one to get to know and converse with on a regular basis. We have become Twitter friends.

daywalt

2. @DrewDaywalt (moves down 1 place)

Nice guy. Creepy films.  Part of the FEWDIO Horror Troupe

Drew is responsible for writing and directing many short horror films for Fewdio.com and my favourite is ‘Bedfellows’. Drew regularly chats to lots of people on Twitter and he has a wonderful personality. I always look forward to his tweets. He’s one in a million!

cd

3. @BathoryErzsebet

Being the first recorded vampire, I tortured & killed servant girls then bathed in & drank their blood as a youth/beauty regiment. AKA: ‘The Blood Countess’

Countess Bathory herself is on Twitter and she loves to share her torturous delights with all her followers and she loves to engage in conversation.

If you’ve ever been intrigued about the legend of Countess Dracula, hear the truth from her and don’t be afraid to chat to her. She’s a lot of fun!

harker

4. @MsHarker

Horror enthusiast, blooming blogger and professional bleeding heart.

The first time I clicked on a Twitter link of hers, she had me in stitches with her TrueBlood rant. She can’t stand Bill’s mop and she fangs for Eric. MsHarker is very witty and amusing and this comes across in her Musing Consortium blog where she discusses all things dark and delicious. Her blog is that good that I regularly comment on her posts. She’s lovely and highly recommended.

did 5. @DreaminDemon (moves up 3 places)

Real life horror. Crimentertainment at its tackiest. We usually follow back and #FollowFriday those who @reply and RT.

I don’t engage in conversation with this Twitterer. With over 5000 followers and following over 5000 people, it must be hard to engage in conversation with everyone. Keep up the good work!  His tweets about horror crime and other industry news are very, very good.

fred 6. @FreddysFingers (NEW)

I am a huge horror movie fanatic and an even bigger film buff. I also review movies.

FreddysFingers is a horror enthusiast who loves to tweet and blog.  He is a very friendly guy who has a passion for the writing of Stephen King and he deserves a spot in my top 10 this month.  View his Paradise of Horror website by clicking here!

jh 7. JohnnyHorror30 (NEW)

Accounting/Social Media. I’m one of the nicest and respectable people to talk too. I Love Horror Movies with a passion! The Descent is my Favorite Horror film!

Another friendly horror enthusiast who loves to chat and has recently set up a new blog titled ‘HorrorLand’.  Click here to view HorrorLand!

wiltz 8. @ChrisWiltz (moves up 1 place)

Screenwriter/ Web Producer, creator of the forthcoming web series Semi-Dead / Thinker/Culture Addict/Zombie rights advocate

Chris is a fun guy on Twitter. His personality comes across very well and he regularly converses with lots of Twitterers. Chris makes my top 10 as he loves my horror business cards and he purchased some. Good choice!  Read about his new zombie web series ‘Semi-Dead ’.

rshaw 9. @RiaShaw (NEW)

San Diego Pin-up Model, Supporter of Local Music, DethDoll Co-Pilot with @THEcrystalWYATT

Ria is a good laugh on Twitter and I always look forward to her interesting tweets.  To view her model portfolio, click here!  If we were in the same country, I would gladly take photographs of her for her portfolio.

ac 10. @AngelaCaperton (moves down 5 places)

Award winning erotica author, Angela Caperton.

Angela is a very good erotic author and has also become a friend of mine. She regularly retweets my tweets when I announce new photography or a new item within my Zazzle store.
